Nokia Plans to Expand Manufacturing and R&D Presence in India Following Talks with Piyush Goyal

New Delhi: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a high-level meeting with Nokia Corporation President and CEO Justin Hotard and the company’s senior leadership in Helsinki, focusing on strengthening Nokia’s long-term investment and innovation partnership with India.

During the meeting, both sides discussed plans to expand Nokia’s manufacturing footprint in India, increase exports from its India-based production facilities, and enhance investments in research and development (R&D). The discussions reflected India’s growing importance as a global manufacturing and technology hub.

The minister also highlighted the significance of telecom network security and the need to build resilient and trusted global supply chains. He encouraged Nokia to further leverage India’s highly skilled engineering talent, rapidly expanding telecom market, and the opportunities offered under the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Piyush Goyal invited Nokia to deepen its engagement with India’s innovation ecosystem, stating that stronger collaboration between India and Finland in the telecom and technology sectors would drive innovation, boost exports, and create new opportunities for both countries.

The meeting is expected to further strengthen the India-Finland partnership in advanced telecommunications, manufacturing, and research, while reinforcing India’s position as a preferred destination for global technology investments.
