Alok Vardhan Chaturvedi has taken over the charge of Director General EPCES

New Delhi. Shri Bhuvnesh Seth, Vice Chairman, Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES), a Council set up by Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, informed that Shri Alok Vardhan Chaturvedi, an  IAS officer (Retd) and a former Director General of Foreign Trade, has taken over the charge of Director General EPCES from August 2020.

Giving the background of new  Director General, Shri Seth  informed that Shri  Chaturvedi is MBA from University of Birmingham, UK, in Public Service (International), B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and retired as Director General of Foreign Trade in September 2019, after serving in various capacities in Government of India and State Governments viz. Director General of Foreign Trade, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Joint Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat, Director, Ministry of Civil Aviation,  Secretary (Expenditure), Govt. of Bihar, District Magistrate, Sahibganj and Managing Director of – Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation, Bihar State Industrial Development Authority, Bihar State Infrastructure Development Corporation and Tripura Tea Development Corporation.  

Shri Chaturvedi has wide experience in Finance, Law, Management, Sales, Marketing,   Corporate Governance, Technical Operational and no doubt in Export Oriented Units and Special Economic Zones as he served as DGFT and Additional Secretary EOUSEZ in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Shri Seth further added that he is very much confident EPCES and its members are in safe hands and Shri Chaturvedi will definitely taking up all the issues of EOUs and SEZs at appropriate level and resolve the problem being faced by the EOU/SEZ Community.

Joining of Shri Chaturvedi as Director General of EPCES will definitely prove to be a very good opportunity for the EOU/SEZ Community especially at this pandemic time when there are several pre and post COVID issues which are hampering the export growth of this important sector which is contributing to 1/3rd of the total national exports.

EPCES is fortunate to have him as Director General, as Shri Chaturvedi has already served the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and handled EOU/SEZs in the Ministry. Hence he is very well aware with the problems being faced and easily understand the current and post-COVID impact on this sector. Being DGFT is was also a member of the Board of Approvals which is a nodal platform to give all the required permissions/approvals to EOUs and SEZs since establishment to exit. Shri Chaturvedi also served in the various Committees of the Government of India and contributed for upliftment of Indian Industry.

His guidance will definitely help EOUs, SEZ units and SEZ Developers to come over from this pandemic outbreak and EPCES will touch the new heights of success and definitely able to address and resolve all the problems of EOUs and SEZs.
