Technology Development Board (TDB) applauds M/s Botlab Dynamics (Botlab Dynamics) for successful completion & closure of project ‘Drone Swarm Technology’

In a resounding acknowledgment of innovation, the Technology Development Board (TDB) applauds M/s Botlab Dynamics Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, for successfully developing and commercializing drone swarm technology, positioning India as the 4thcountry to achieve this feat alongside the UK, Russia, and China. Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Chairperson, TDB presented the No Dues Certificate (NDC) to Dr. Sarita Ahlawat, Founder-Director of Botlab Dynamics on 22nd January, 2024 at his office.

With Ministry of Science & Technology playing a pivotal role in this transformative journey, an initial seed fund of Rs. One crore for Research and Development was provided by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and TDB subsequently providingRs 2.5 crore for scale-up and commercialization of the indigenously developed drone swarm technology, and to perform at the Beating Retreat Ceremony, 2022 as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Prior to the event, the technology was also demonstrated at the residence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh on January 21, 2022, showcasing all the essential components, spanning hardware and software, including the flight controller (drone’s brain), precision GPS, motor controller, Ground Control Station (GCS) algorithms, and more.

From its groundbreaking debut at the Beating Retreat Ceremony in 2022, earning India the status of the 4th country globally to achieve such a feat,Botlabhas never looked back, steadily establishing itself as a symbol of indigenous technological prowess.In thisenriching two-year journey, the start-up has achieved remarkable success, highlighted by the execution of high-profile drone shows like the ICC World Cup 2023, IPL Opening Ceremony, Beating Retreat 2022, National Games (Goa), Vijay Diwas, Congo Promotion Show, and various other domestic and international events. This success not only reflects financial stability but also showcases an exceptional revenue generation model. Starting with a modest team of 40, Botlab has expanded to over 130 dedicated professionals, and marking its growth with the inauguration of a new, state-of-the-art 4-storey office in New Delhi.

Incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi by visionary co-founders, Sarita Ahlawat, Tanmay Bunkar, and Anuj Kumar Barnwal, M/s Botlab Dynamics has emerged as a frontrunner in the drone entertainment industry. The start-up has not only earned accolades for its unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence but has also showcased remarkable technical prowess and creativity. Demonstrating an exceptional ability to deliver cutting-edge entertainment experiences, M/s Botlab Dynamics’ drone swarm technology have adorned the skies with intricate formations, leaving an indelible impression on spectators and significantly contributing to the success of major events.

Dr. Sarita Ahlawat, Founder-Director of Botlab Dynamics, expressed gratitude for TDB’s steadfast support, emphasizing how the financial assistance played a pivotal role in the success of her drone project.
