New Delhi.: Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated BetiBachaoBetiPadao initiative added a capacity building programme in health and nutrition for over 500 anganwadi workers. On 28th September MoS External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated the training programme for Anganwadi workers to popularize millets and increase their consumption.

Gearing up for the festive season, the South East Delhi Corporation District Magistrate Isha Khosla and her team organized the Millet Pakhwara to augment the BetiBachaoBetiPadao initiative with capacity building in preparing nutritious millet dishes. 

Pakhwara was held in partnership with Mera Millet Magic, a campaign to mainstream millets and revive its links with the art, culture and culinary heritage of our nation. Declared an official event by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Mera Millet Magic seeks pledges to include one millet meal in daily diets, support the millet farmers, foster climate-resilient agriculture and accelerate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on health, nutrition and climate change.

Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi unveiled the International Year of Millet celebration with the theme Mera Millet Magic. Mera Millet Magic is a joint initiative of Celiac Society of India, Asha Chandra Welfare Consultancy and shOObh Group Welfare Society. MoS External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi appreciated the live cooking of millet preparations, awarded the children for their outstanding performances and felicitated the winners of the millet quiz. Noted nutritionist Ishi Khosla held an interactive session on the impact of the grain-changer game-changer millets and the Mera Millet Magic pledge was taken by all.
