New Delhi. ; Indian Railways has ferried more than 1.5 crore passengers so far through trains in festival season. The number is expected to exceed 2.5 crore by the end of the festive period. To ensure smoother crowd management, 30 major stations in Bihar and nearby areas in UP have been equipped with large holding areas.
In recent years, significant investment in railway infrastructure has led to remarkable progress. The number of special trains, which were only a few hundred earlier, has now risen to a record-breaking number. Track construction has also increased significantly, from just 400–600 km per year about a decade back to over 4,000 km per year today.
Indian Railways’ Efforts to Ensure Convenient Travel for Passengers During the Festive Season
Railway staff are working round the clock to assist passengers and maintain order so that everyone can reach home safely for the festivals.
With Chhath Puja ongoing, Railways has further strengthened arrangements to handle the peak travel period.
Stations in Bihar are preparing for the festive rush with holding areas, extra ticket counters, CCTV monitoring, and other facilities to enhance passenger convenience.
At Patna Railway Station, a dedicated holding area has been set up for passengers’ convenience during the festive season. To ensure safety and security, round-the-clock monitoring is being carried out through CCTV surveillance.
Indian Railways has also set up a dedicated holding area at Danapur Railway Station for passengers’ convenience, ensuring all essential amenities are available.
Indian Railways is prioritizing passenger safety during Chhath Puja. At Danapur Railway Station, ambulances and medical teams are kept on standby 24×7 to handle any emergencies.
At Rajendra Nagar Terminal railway station in Patna, dedicated railway staff assisted passengers requiring help, ensuring they have a safe, comfortable, and pleasant journey during the Chhath festival.
Passengers Share Positive Experiences While Travelling With Indian Railways
Passengers have appreciated the smooth travel experience this festive season, highlighting easy bookings, clean coaches, and well-managed stations.
During the Chhath festival, a special Vande Bharat Express is running between New Delhi and Patna. In this first-of-its-kind initiative, Indian Railways today played the tunes of several traditional Chhath melodies, enhancing the excitement of passengers traveling home for Chhath. Across India, 156 Vande Bharat Express services are currently in operation, with this special train between Patna and New Delhi running in addition to the regular services.
A passenger at Jamalpur Railway Station in Bihar shared that there was no crowd in the train, thanks to the increased number of special trains. Another passenger at the same station mentioned that all facilities, including cleanliness, were well-maintained and they faced no inconvenience during their journey.
One of the passengers thanked Indian Railways for maintaining cleanliness and appreciated the initiative of playing Chhath-related songs at the station, which he said is creating a spiritual and festive atmosphere.
Passengers praised Indian Railways for improved festive travel arrangements. A female passenger said her family received confirmed tickets and faced no issues, appreciating the better management at Delhi stations. Others noted timely trains, clean coaches and toilets, good food and bedding, and an overall smooth and comfortable journey.
