Leh April 28, 2026: In a spiritually significant and culturally enriching initiative, the sacred relics of Gautama Buddha will be taken to Ladakh for public exposition from May 1 to May 15, 2026. The revered relics will be transported from Delhi to Leh via a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force, scheduled to depart on April 29, 2026.
This rare exposition is expected to draw devotees, scholars, and tourists from across the country and abroad, offering a unique opportunity to witness and pay homage to the sacred relics associated with Lord Buddha.
Monks Accompanying the Holy Relics
The Union Territory of Ladakh has nominated several eminent Buddhist monks who will accompany the relics during their journey. These include:
H.E. Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche (Hemis Monastery / Drukpa Kagyu tradition)
Khanpo Thinles Chossal (Hemis Monastery)
H.E. Skyabje Staklung Tsetul Rinpoche (Dakthok Monastery)
Ven. Jamyang Gyatso (Lopon) (Matho Monastery)
Ven. Shatup Changchup (Thiksey Monastery)
Their presence underscores the deep spiritual importance of the occasion and ensures adherence to traditional rituals and practices during the exposition.
