New Delhi. : Dr. Vijay Dev, the State Election Commissioner of NCT of Delhi & UT Chandigarh, had the honour of meeting with the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi to discuss crucial matters relating to the electoral process and governance at the grass root level of Indian Democracy.
During the meeting, Dr. Vijay Dev and the President engaged in a constructive dialogue on various aspects of the 3rd tier constitutional electoral setup of State Election Commissions at the state level across India and especially in Delhi and Chandigarh, strengthening the institution of State Election Commission, the challenges and opportunities for strengthening grass-root democracy to make them robust tools of effective empowerment of people.
Dr. Vijay Dev expressed appreciation for the President’s commitment to uphold the democratic principles of India and ensuring transparent and credible elections. Dr. Dev reiterated the commitment of the State Election Commissions to carry out their responsibilities in an impartial manner, ensuring the integrity and transparency of electoral process with active participation of the people.
